PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

In 2006 I ran for State Representative for the Ohio House 85th District. We received 48.4% of the vote in this race, against a two time incumbent State Representative.

In 2007 I was appointed to the Area 20 Workforce Investment Board. This board oversees the administration and program functions for employment and training dollars coming from the federal and state government to Ross, Fairfield and Pickaway Counties. I am a voting member of this Board.

In 2007 I helped establish the Southern Ohio Biomass Task Force. This is a group of professionals dedicated to promoting a biomass fuel initiative in Southern and South Central Ohio. This hopefully will reduce our dependancy on oil and gas, and help public schools and other facilities save on utility costs by refitting furnaces to burn biomass fuels.

From December 2004 to to the present, I have represented the Vietnam Veterans of America on the Ross County Veteran’s Service Commission and have provided guidance and direction for the Ross County Veteran’s Service Office in providing services to veterans of Ross County who are in need of assistance.

From October 1998 to June 2004, I worked as a Management Analyst Supervisor for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In this position, I served as the Veterans Licensing and Certification Program Coordinator for the State Of Ohio and helped develop better working relationships between educational organizations, state licensing agencies, private employers, the U. S. armed forces and veterans advocacy groups.

From July 1979 to October 1998, I was employed as a Veterans Employment Representative for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services (OBES) and supervised the state veterans employment and training program in Ross and Pike Counties. I monitored the implementation of government programs to serve veterans and counseled veterans on how to more effectively market their skills to employers. While employed at OBES, I served as a Union Steward for approximately 7 years and held the Union President’s seat for the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (Ross 7100) for approximately 3 years.

From June 1973 to May 1979, I served my country in the United States Navy. I trained as a Fire Control Technician and worked on electronic warfare equipment, achieving the rank of First Class Petty Officer (E6).

I legally established three federally-approved 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations that provide assistance to homeless and needy veterans. I have served as the fiduciary agent, and currently serve as Secretary/Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors, for each of these organizations, including the South Central Ohio Homeless Veterans Committee, the Ross County Veterans Council and Veterans in Transition, Inc.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

I have received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration

I attended Ohio University - Chillicothe, majoring in Business Management Technology.

While working as a Veterans Employment Representative, I attended the University of Colorado - Denver and completed workshops in Interviewing, Veterans Benefits, Counseling and Case Management.

I am a 1973 graduate of Huntington High School in Chillicothe, where I majored in business.

I am certified in Ohio as a subsitute school teacher and am an apprentice auctioneer.
